Kindy 500

The Kindy 500 is one of the biggest things we do in Kindergarten. All the kids make cars out of cardboard boxes at home and then they bring them to school. To be honest, I think it is a pride thing for the dads. Some of these cars are insane! They light up, they have music...they really go all out! The kids drop off their cars and then we sing patriotic songs to the parents and then get in their cars and "drive" to different national monuments so the kids can learn about things like the White House, the eagle, the American flag, Statue of Liberty, Lincoln and so forth. It is soo fun and we work for months on these songs! It turned out great and the kids did such a fantastic job singing and speaking their parts. I especially had to laugh in my afternoon class when one of my boys bowed after every song and another boy did not even move a single muscle to sing or do actions. I guess that is why Kindergarten is so much fun!
Here are some of the cars and some of the helpers that presented to the kids!
